Israel-Syria Border Tensions ‘More Explosive’

Israel-Prayer-Alert-Header3

The two-year civil war in Syria has often threatened to spill across the borders into other nations. This week that threat moved even closer to reality as Syrian troops (intelligence reports indicate these were government troops rather than rebels) fired on an IDF patrol jeep near the Golan border. Syria claims to have attacked the jeep inside their territory, but Israel insists the jeep was on Israeli land. Israel responded to the attack with a missile that destroyed the stronghold from which the shots were fired.

In a bluntly worded statement, Israeli Defense Forces Chief of Staff General Benny Gantz said, “Israel cannot allow the Golan Heights area to become a comfortable space for Assad to operate from. If he causes [the situation on] the Golan Heights to deteriorate, he will have to bear the consequences.” One reporter described the situation as “more explosive” than anything seen in recent years. Executive Director of Global Ministries for Jewish Voice

DATELINE: Hosanna, Ethiopia

The last day of our Jewish Voice Hosanna medical clinic brought plenty of challenges; many of the team are still on a bus, which is stuck in the mud! Yet attitudes are still great.

Today we saw 2,498 patients in our clinic, and the total patients we were able to help during our clinic was 9,398! Our numbers are still incomplete on those who visited the prayer room.

Tomorrow we will pack up and head back to Addis Ababa.

Consider joining us on a Jewish Voice medical mission as a volunteer!  All throughout the year, we host international medical outreaches for underprivileged Jewish communities in remote parts of Africa and India that feature free treatment for medical, eye, and dental conditions. Our five-day clinics bring not only physical healing through medicine and medical procedures, but also spiritual healing through sharing the Gospel of Yeshua and through prayer. You don’t have to be a medical professional to raise your own support and come on a humanitarian outreach with us; you just need to be willing to serve with a heart of compassion. Sign up for an upcoming outreach.

Honor for a Murderous Terrorist

According to a report in the Times of Israel, the French city of St. Denis yesterday hosted a ceremony to honor a number of Palestinian terrorists. The event was organized by the National Collective for Just and Viable Peace between Palestinians and Israelis, a group known by its French acronym, CNPJDPI.

Among those being honored was Allam Kaabi, of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).  Kaabi was instrumental in planning and carrying out the 2001 assassination of Israel’s tourism minister, Rehavam Ze’evi. Kaabi was released as part of the prisoner exchange that freed captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. Kaabi and the other speakers were described as “recently released prisoners” in the promotional material for the event. (more…)

We started holding discipleship classes during the clinic week for the new Believers. The classes were held at the local Messianic congregation and more than 400 people attended during the week. More than 300 prayed to receive Yeshua as their Messiah after attending the class. Praise the Lord for the people who have come to realize that He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)!

About half of our team attended the Shabbat service on Friday night to celebrate with the congregation all that the Lord accomplished this week. (more…)

Honored to Serve: Last Day of Clinic in Addis

DATELINE: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

We had a special morning devotion on Friday that provided confirmation for our team of the impact they had on the community.

The Health Center’s Board attended our meeting and presented our team with a certificate of appreciate and a traditional hammer pot as a gift. They mentioned how honored they were to have the team serve their community and invited us to return to continue on with our great work. JVMI also presented the board with a plaque and dedicated the ramp and staircase that was built last year for the clinic, and the railing that was built this year to complete the project. Our entire volunteer staff then posed on the staircase for our group photo.

We ended the clinic day by treating as many patients as we could before closing the clinic and packing up our equipment. (more…)
