More Than Two Thousand Receive Care at Hosanna Medical Clinic

5x4-Hosanna-Stamp-copyRick Kingham,
Executive Director of Global Ministries for Jewish Voice

DATELINE: Hosanna, Ethiopia

We are all rejoicing at the close of clinic day number two. Some 2,105 patients received care today, and hundreds came to visit the prayer room at our Jewish Voice medical clinic. We distributed 800 LifeStraws. The team has formed a great bond of friendship and the love of Yeshua. The Holy Spirit is moving in Hosanna!

Consider joining us on a Jewish Voice medical mission as a volunteer! All throughout the year, we host international medical outreaches for underprivileged Jewish communities in remote parts of Africa and India that feature free treatment for medical, eye, and dental conditions. Our five-day clinics bring not only physical healing through medicine and medical procedures, but also spiritual healing through sharing the Gospel of Yeshua and through prayer. You don’t have to be a medical professional to raise your own support and come on a humanitarian outreach with us; you just need to be willing to serve with a heart of compassion. Sign up for an upcoming outreach.

We started holding discipleship classes during the clinic week for the new Believers. The classes were held at the local Messianic congregation and more than 400 people attended during the week. More than 300 prayed to receive Yeshua as their Messiah after attending the class. Praise the Lord for the people who have come to realize that He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)!

About half of our team attended the Shabbat service on Friday night to celebrate with the congregation all that the Lord accomplished this week. (more…)

Honored to Serve: Last Day of Clinic in Addis

DATELINE: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

We had a special morning devotion on Friday that provided confirmation for our team of the impact they had on the community.

The Health Center’s Board attended our meeting and presented our team with a certificate of appreciate and a traditional hammer pot as a gift. They mentioned how honored they were to have the team serve their community and invited us to return to continue on with our great work. JVMI also presented the board with a plaque and dedicated the ramp and staircase that was built last year for the clinic, and the railing that was built this year to complete the project. Our entire volunteer staff then posed on the staircase for our group photo.

We ended the clinic day by treating as many patients as we could before closing the clinic and packing up our equipment. (more…)

One of our veteran Jewish Voice medical clinic volunteers, Tim Kearns, was featured in the article “On a Mission” in the Winter 2013 edition of TeamHealth, the Advanced Practice Clinician Quarterly Newsletter.

It’s a great write-up about this dedicated Physician’s Assistant and about our Jewish Voice medical outreach to Mposi, Zimbabwe.

Ready and Willing: Our Jewish Voice Team Serves with Success in India

A volunteer medical professional is confident our Jewish Voice medical outreach in Manipur will be a success.

By Jonathan Gannon,

Jewish Voice Director of Global Outreach

DATELINE: Manipur, India

It is Wednesday morning in India, and the clinic is saturated with patients and all systems are running incredibly well. As I write this, our team is banding (putting day-specific colored bracelet bands on the patients) and processing a large group of patients that were bussed in specifically for the outreach (a daily occurrence). These patients are in addition to the many hundreds that are standing in our line system outside the clinic.

The Jewish Voice clinic system is created to allow for large patient volume. Patients are pre-sorted outside the clinic gate and brought through a series of waiting and processing areas before being seated outside the room of the clinician. Following treatment, patients receive their free medicine at our pharmacy and are invited to visit the prayer and counseling tent where a clear presentation of the Gospel is given.

The afternoons have have been hot and humid, but we are refreshed daily by the coolness of evening and morning. The Jewish Voice participant team with us is mostly made up of first-timers (about 80 percent). We have five dentists, six doctors, two opticians, and an ophthalmology/eye surgery team that are treating large numbers of patients (in addition to some local medical professional hires and volunteers). They are supported by line-flow managers, security volunteers, and prayer warriors. All are performing their jobs efficiently and selflessly. We are very pleased to report the following outreach results through Monday and Tuesday: (more…)
