DATELINE: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Monday, Feb. 25, 2013
The team arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Saturday, February 23, with approximately 25 clinic bags of humanitarian aid. The bags cleared customs without incurring any fees. Praise Adonai!
On Sunday, the team attended a local worship service before going to the clinic site for clinic orientation and set-up.
Today, we started the day with praise and worship and a morning devotional by our JVMI Africa Director, who provided encouragement for the team as we prepared to treat the numerous people in line outside the clinic. Our JVMI Africa Medical Director provided instructions to our international and local team before opening the clinic. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness as we had a record-breaking first day!
Patients treated: 1,638
Dental patients treated: 169
Eye glasses distributed: 300
People seen in the prayer room: 557
People who prayed to receive Yeshua as their Messiah: 523
The stories from the prayer room have been amazing:
- A completely deaf and mute man came into the prayer room; he left hearing and responding verbally.
- A crippled man came in and left carrying his crutches, over his head, through the clinic doors.
- A young man who had an infected crocodile bite left healed and delivered.
The Lord is moving among the Kechene community! Tomorrow, we are expecting to see many of the patients that were seen today in the prayer room. Tomorrow marks a new era for the JVMI medical clinics as we begin daily discipleship classes. The classes are being held at the local Messianic Congregation and will provide in-depth knowledge of what it means to be a follower of Yeshua.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Pray for peace throughout the clinic, the continued unity of our team, and peaceful rest for our participants. Thank you again for all of your prayers.
