This is our third Jewish Voice medical outreach to the Bnei Menashe Jewish community of Manipur. We are situated in far eastern India, near Burma and Bangladesh. Our Jewish Voice team of 42 participants (staff, medical professionals, and volunteers) arrived just over 50 hours ago. The journey here has been immensely challenging, but full of the Lord’s miraculous provision.

There is much mystery surrounding our target audience here in Manipur, the Bnei Menashe community. This Jewish community is considered by many to be one of the Lost Tribes of Israel and is the focus of much international research and publication. In fact, rabbis from Israel have been coming to this humble region for more than 30 years with the goal of imparting traditional rabbinic Judaism to the Bnei Menashe.

How do we know that these people are actually of Israelite origin? Well, there are several factors that suggest strongly that the claims are indeed true. The first clue lies within the name of the Mizo and Kuki tribal ancestor “Manmaseh” (which is phonetically close to the name Manasseh, one of the tribes of Israel).

The second clue lies within the wording of an ancient local song. The words are translated as follows:

“While we are preparing for the Sikpui Feast, the big Red Sea becomes divided.

As we march along fighting our foes we are being led by pillar of cloud by day, and pillar of fire by night.

Our enemies, O ye folks, are thick with fury. Come out with your shields and arrows.

Fighting our enemies all day long, we march forward as cloud-fire goes before us.

The enemies we fought all day long, the big sea swallowed them like wild beast.

Collect the quails, and draw the water that springs out of the rock.”

Since our last outreach here in November 2011, more than 7,000 Bnei Menashe have been approved for aliyah (immigration) to Israel within the next several years. We are living in the last few pages of history and the Lord is regathering and restoring His people Israel. As a ministry, we are privileged to be partners with God’s Spirit in realizing the prophetic fulfillment of His Word!

We are excited to be successfully expanding the medical outreach this year with the introduction of a fully operational eye surgery program. This clinic will represent the very best medical care afforded at any of our Jewish Voice Ministries medical outreaches: medical, pediatrics, dental, gynecology, optometry, distance and reading glasses, and eye surgeries.

Thank you for your prayers and for believing with us for a fruitful outreach.
