DATELINE: Mexico City
September 5, 2012
Greetings once again from Mexico City, where things are running with great intensity. We have been amazed with the results on the streets from the past few days. The theme of the past two days has been “breakthrough.” The testimonies we are hearing from “Denny” and the street outreach team are “Book of Acts” amazing.
The role of the street outreach team (nearly 200 people every day) is to strategically saturate areas of the city (primarily Jewish community areas) with Festival invitations (a.k.a fliers). In the process of handing the invitations to people on the streets, the team is trained to engage people in evangelistic conversations.
The results have been staggering: Sunday – 40,000 invitations and 52 salvations, Monday – 90,000 invitations and 80 salvations, and Tuesday – 130,000 invitations distributed and 170 salvations. The running tally after three days is this: 260,000 distributed Festival invitations and 302 salvations. Praise the Lord!
Over the weekend, one of our Canadian Messianic rabbis led one of the most important events as part of the Festival outreach program. We always schedule a seminar that is meant to answer the questions: Why is Jewish evangelism so critical and important to God? Why is Jewish evangelism so challenging? Why is new Jewish Believer discipleship unique? This seminar is meant to train local pastors and church leaders, and realign the outlook of the local church toward the Jewish People and the State of Israel. We were thrilled with the attendance of an unprecedented number of attendees—750! The message was powerfully delivered in the two-hour event and was received with great enthusiasm.
We are currently working with a local pastor on the final logistical details for the planting of the new Messianic congregation following the Festival outreach. It is critical that all those who come to faith during the Festival receive follow-up and discipleship. The non-Jewish new Believer cards are distributed among the churches that supported the event. The Jewish cards are handled by our hand-picked follow-up team and are the first-fruits for a brand new Messianic congregation. We are targeting the most densely saturated Jewish community in Mexico City for the new congregation. Please pray that the Lord continues to provide insight and wisdom for this critical project.
After three days of rehearsals, tonight (Wednesday) will be the first official dress rehearsal. We are so excited that you will be able to share in this great moment with us as the event will be streamed live on Friday night. Benjamin has done a tremendous job in leading the production logistics. Jonathan Bernis, our Festival producer and emcee, and Benjamin have synergistically cast a vision for this event that is certain to elevate the program in every area.
Please continue to pray for us. Pray for anointing and safety for the street outreach team, pray for legal protection from any last minute legal challenges to the event, pray for anointing for the performers and directors, pray for supernatural strength for the entire team, and pray for Jonathan Bernis as he prepares to deliver the message at each of the Festival nights.
