DATELINE: Mexico City, Mexico
August 27, 2012

As I write this I am sitting in our festival office surrounded by our JVMI and local festival team members. The phones are ringing, strategic conversations are taking place, and details are being finalized. As the group arrival day nears, there is an increasing almost tangible level of excitement from all parties involved in the Hear O’ Israel! Festival of Jewish Music & Dance. From our festival office, we have an amazing view of the city, including the Auditorio Nacional, which creates a very strategic tower-like prayer vantage point.

At this moment our street outreach volunteer coordinator “Denny” (not his real name) is with a small team somewhere in this vast metropolis finalizing his street outreach strategy. Denny has sacrificed so much to be here on the ground with us in advance, which is a clear indication of his full commitment to having the very best street outreach possible.

Thanks to the hard work of “Cindi” (not her real name) and her organizing committee, the 300+ registered local volunteers have met in churches throughout the city for two-hour blocks of prayer. These prayer meetings conclude this week, which will give way to all-night prayer meetings beginning next week in churches all around the city.

On this past Shabbat morning, nearly 100 pastors gathered for a special breakfast meeting with Jonathan Bernis. Jonathan shared his vision for the festival as well as a very thorough explanation of what we are and what we are not in terms of our Messianic identity. The response of the local pastors was overwhelmingly positive. The Lord has given us tremendous favor with many newly created ministry friends here in Mexico City.

On Saturday night, our team converged on the final city-wide volunteer prayer meeting hosted by Cindi. The prayer meeting was powerful and the presence of the Lord was noticeably present. Jonathan shared from the Scriptures at the beginning of the meeting, which was followed by times of very specific prayer. It was an intense and powerful two-hour prayer event.

On Sunday morning Jonathan ministered at two churches, both of which have contributed large numbers of volunteers to the festival effort. At the first church, Jonathan shared an anointed and powerful message, which was received with great enthusiasm from the people. Following the service, we drove across the city to the second church, where again Jonathan ministered the Word. At the close of his message, Jonathan made an invitation for salvation and a dozen people came forward to receive Yeshua as Savior and Lord. Indeed, it was a first fruits sampling of what will be realized through the festival outreach!

Our team here is now fully engaged in the final surge of work to be done in anticipation for the group arrival this Friday night. Thank you for all you are doing to make this outreach possible, and thank you for your deep commitment to pray for the salvation of the Jewish People here in Mexico City!

This is really amazing!! more than 20 years when I was saved in Mexico city, we did not have this… it was even unheard of Pastors even talking about Messianic believers… it was just a handful of us getting together in small gatherings in different sections of the city… this is really a miracle!! praying for you all and the many that will come… Thank you for going to Mexico, City… Shalom to you
