Washington Meetings Highlight Divide Between Obama and Netanyahu

Following meetings at the White House on Monday, it was clearer than ever that President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu have vastly divergent views on the seriousness of the threat posed to Israel by Iran’s nuclear program, and regarding the timing of that threat as well. Despite a publicly united face, the statements by both men revealed their differing conclusions and the divide between them.

The Prime Minister said, “We can’t wait very long,” while the President said, “This isn’t a decision that needs to be made in weeks…or even months.” Though the Obama Administration has reluctantly agreed with Congress to impose stiffer economic sanctions on Iran to pressure them to halt their nuclear program, there is no evidence so far that the Iranians are responding.

In fact the most recent IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) report revealed that Iran’s output of enriched uranium has increased by 50% since last fall. With the election looming in November, the economic fallout of a potential war is a major factor in decision making regarding what steps to take and when to take them. The likelihood of war at this point is very, very high.

Today is Purim, the feast that celebrates the deliverance of the Jewish People from a plan for their destruction by the government of Persia—modern day Iran. This should be a reminder to all of us to be sincere and diligent in our prayers, just as Esther and Mordecai were. We know God hears and answers prayer.

  1. Obama is a closet rug-sniffer as they say in the vernacular in the Middle East; he was trained in an anti-Semitic church for 20 years by a hateful preacher—what do you expect. Any “watching Israel’s back” statement has no value until Obama has his Air Force One party jet stop in Tel Aviv. The Jewish and Christian biblical texts describe the coming war between iran and Russia and Israel – in the Christian Old Testament it is called the Battle of Gog and Magog – it will be a war that destroys 5/6 of the entire Islamic world and is clearly not something that Obama understands….Most Jewish leaders have knowledge of these prophecies and understand them – yet Obama is more intent on destroying the infrastructure and the democratic underpinnings of both the US and Israel – so he plods along, dragging the liberal US media with him on his path to windmills and solar panels and electric cars.
