Pray for Critical Meetings Between Netanyahu and Obama

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is coming to the United States this weekend for some critical meetings. In addition to speaking to Israel’s supporters at a Washington conference, the Prime Minister is scheduled to spend time in face to face discussion with President Obama on Monday. The main topic of conversation between the two leaders is expected to be the ongoing threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program.

The most recent report from the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) revealed that Iran’s output of enriched uranium has increased by 50 percent since last fall. When Iran’s President Ahmadinejad recently claimed that Iran was making breakthroughs in enrichment, some analysts downplayed his remarks as grandstanding. Now his claims have been verified, and Iran is getting ever closer to the threshold for nuclear weapons.

There is widespread expectation of war between at least Israel and Iran, and perhaps involving the United States as well. It is clear that Israel’s leaders do not feel they can depend on the United States to stop Iran. But the economic and military toll an attack to halt Iran’s nuclear program (like those Israel launched against Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007) would bring on the Jewish state would be high indeed.

We are continuing to work with our ministry partners inside the nation of Israel to prepare to alleviate the suffering and destruction that would follow the outbreak of war. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Every sign seems to point to us being on the very brink of war.
