On What Day Was Yeshua Crucified?

When exactly did Yeshua (Jesus) die on the cross? Was it on a Friday as many in the church have typically believed? Our two Jewish Voice Messianic rabbis, Jonatha Bernis and Jack Zimmerman, debate this issue and try to pinpoint the exact day of our Savior’s death.

Watch the YouTube video of this discussion.

Many people believe that Yeshua (Jesus) was crucified before Shabbat on Friday and that He rose again on Sunday. But Rabbi Bernis points out something different.

Bernis mentions that the Word mentions the term Shabbaton, which would lead us to believe that Yeshua was actually crucified on a Wednesday evening. If you count three full days, then He would resurrect after Shabbat, either after sunset on Saturday or early in the morning on Sunday.

Rabbi Jack Zimmerman also mentions that according to the account in Scripture in Matthew 28:1, when the women came to Yeshua’s tomb, He was already gone. That was at the end of the Sabbath.

  1. Jews reckoned even a part of a day as the whole day. It’s in the Talmud.

It didn’t need to be literally 72 hours for the “3 days and 3 nights” to be fulfilled.

Just part of one 24-hour period, a full 24-hour period, and part of one 24-hour period. 3 days.

  2. The Messiah had testified that He would be “three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”…….

Simply, The Messiah was crucified on the 5th Day, during the day and ressurected on the 1st Day during the night…….

5th Day, day = first day
6th Day, night = first night
6th Day, day = second day
7th Day, night = second night
7th Day, day = third day
1st Day, nght = third night, The New Beginning

  3. The Messiah testified that he would be “in the heart of the earth for three day and three nights”…….

Quite readily seen that there is no way three days and three nights could occur between Friday afternoon and prior to sunrise Sunday morning when Our Father “raised The Messiah from among the dead”…….

Quite evident that only two days and two nights would pass if The Messiah was crucified on Friday afternoon and resurrected on Sunday prior to sunrise.

What the “good friday” theo’ry’logy does, is declare The Messiah to be a liar when He testified that He would be in “the heart of the earth for three day and three nights” ;-(

Prior to continuing it needs be realized that “the three days and three nights” The Messiah bore witness too, were in accordance with the Jewish tradition of the “1st day” night beginning a week, and the “7th day” day ending the week with each day beginning and ending at sunset.

The following table is for reference:

    Jewish Tradition-Gregorian Calendar Equivalent
    ———————– ————————————————————
5th day, night—–Wednesday…sunset to Thursday sunrise
    5th day, day——Thursday…sunrise to sunset ………….. Crucifixion..

6th day, night—–Thursday…sunset to Friday sunrise
    6th ” , day——–Friday….sunrise to sunset

7th day, night—–Friday….sunset to Saturday sunrise
    7th ” , day——–Saturday…sunrise to sunset

1st day, night—-Saturday…sunset to Sunday sunrise ..He Is Risen..
    1st ” , day——-Sunday….sunrise to sunset

2nd day, night—-Sunday….sunset to Monday sunrise
    2nd ” , day——-Monday….sunrise to sunset

3rd day, night—–Monday….sunset to Tuesday sunrise
    3rd ” , day——–Tuesday…sunrise to sunset

4th day, night—–Tuesday…sunset to Wednesday sunrise
    4th ” , day——–Wednesday…sunrise to sunset

Good to remember The Messiah testified of “three days and three nights” which is indicative of Him being “raised from among the dead” at night.

Luke 24:1-3 “Now on the first day of the week, VERY EARLY early in the morning, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. And they entered in, and could not find the body of The Messiah”…….

When they came to the tomb early in morning on what was the 1st day, day, The Messiah’s body was not there for He had been “raised from among the dead” on the 1st day prior to sunrise, which according to the gregorian calendar would be Saturday evening.

And the 1st day of the week prior to sunrise was the third day since The Messiah was crucified. And He rose again “the third day” .

Luke 9:22 The Messiah testified, “The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day”…….

The “third day” was the 1st day of the week prior to sunrise, so The Messiah was “raised from among the dead” the 1st day, night.

The following is a reference which confirms the day The Messiah was crucified:

Luke 24:1,13,21 – (1) “Now upon The FIRST DAY of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. – (13) And, behold, two of them went THAT SAME DAY(1st Day) to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. – (21) But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, TODAY IS THE THIRD DAY(1st Day) since these things were done.”

The above confirms that the 1st day was the Third Day since The Messiah was crucified.

    When was The Messiah crucified?

    Quite a simple matter…….

5th day – day 1st day……. Messiah crucified and died.
    6th day – night 1st night…….
    6th day – day 2nd day…….
    7th day – night 2nd night…….
    7th day – day 3rd day…….
    1st day – night 3rd night……. He Is Risen!

    HalleluYAH!

The Messiah was crucified the 5th day, day, which would be Thursday after sunrise and before sunset according to the gregorian calendar.

And it is yet as The Messiah testified, “Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die”

And then The Messiah questioned, “Do you believe this?

    YES!

    Father Help! and HE does…….

    And Yes! Truth Matters!

‘good friday’ is one of many lies within the heretical doctrines of pagan catholic/christian folklore ;-(

“Come Out of her, MY people”!

Peace, in spite of the dis-ease(no-peace) that is of this world and it’s systems of religion, for “the WHOLE(not just a portion) world is under the control of the evil one” indeed and Truth…….

Truth IS, and IS Forever, a lie is not…….

Abide in The Truth……. francis asimpleandspirituallife.org
