I’m sitting on the airplane back from Uruguay as I write this report to you, our extended Jewish Voice Ministries International family. Words cannot express the great scope of our gratitude for your prayers and financial support for this amazing festival outreach.

We first arrived in Montevideo, Uruguay, in January of this year to begin the long process of planning and implementing the Montevideo Hear O’ Israel! Festival of Jewish Music & Dance. The Lord had placed the Jewish community of Uruguay upon the heart of Jonathan Bernis in 2009. Our research indicated that Uruguay was home to more than 20,000 Jews, most of which lived in the capital city of Montevideo.

However, over the last ten years, the number of Jews in Montevideo has been drastically reduced. We discovered that nearly half of the Jewish community in Uruguay had already made aliyah to the land of Israel. The window of opportunity to reach these Diasporic Jews with the Gospel was indeed shrinking.

The timing of the outreach was no doubt part of God’s perfect providential planning. In January it was very clear that the Lord was already hard at work preparing the way for JVMI. Our team was amazed throughout the scouting and advance work process by the manifest evidence of the Lord’s favor. Logistical and ministry doors opened almost effortlessly.

Despite these initial blessings, there was plenty of reason for alarm. . .
