The Kiddush Hebrew Blessing

We thought that since it is Shabbat, we should share this YouTube video of the Hebrew blessing sung over the bread (hamotzi) and wine (hagafen) presented by Jewish Voice during a weekly chapel service.

Here’s the blessing you would sing to bless the bread (hamotzi), written in transliterated Hebrew:

“Ba-ruch a-tah A-do-nai E-lo-hei-nu Me-lech Ha-o-lam, ha-motzi Lechem min ha-aretz.”

Translated into English, this blessing says, “Blessed are you, HaShem, our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth.”

Here’s the blessing you would sing to bless the wine or grape juice (hagafen), written in transliterated Hebrew:

“Ba-ruch a-tah A-do-nai E-lo-hei-nu Me-lech Ha-o-lam, bo-rei p’ri ha-ga-fen.”

Translated into English, this Hebrew blessing says, “Blessed are You, HaShem, our God, King of the Universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.”
