Becoming God’s Arrow: Adding Balance

By Cheryl Schang,
JVMI’s Vice President of Global Outreach

Without feathers, an arrow will never have the proper balance to fly correctly. If we are to be God’s arrows, then we must have spiritual feathers. We get these spiritual feathers by staying immersed in the Word of God.

An arrow has feathers because feathers give balance and stability to the arrow. This is what the Word of God does for us.

We have what is called in theological terms a “revealed religion.” Look at the conversation between Jesus and Peter  in Matthew 16:13-17:

Jesus said to Peter, “Who do men say that I am?” “Your Jeremiah.  Your Elijah.”

“Yes, but who do you say that I am?”

“You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God!”

“Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you.”

It’s a revealed religion, and you can’t just take your revelation and run with it. You have to have the balance of the Word to check your revelation. There is a Scripture in Isaiah chapter 8 that says if anybody gives you a word, a prophetic word or a new revelation, that doesn’t agree with this Word, throw it away.

We have a revealed religion, yet we have to balance it with the Word of God. It brings stability to our lives.
