What’s In Your Hand?

The Bible talks a lot about giving what you have and watching God grow that for His Kingdom purposes.

Remember the story about the young boy who gave his paltry lunch of five loaves of bread and two fish?

It wasn’t much, but in the hands of Jesus it was more than enough to feed a hungry crowd of 5,000-plus people. In fact, you probably remember that there were some 12 baskets filled with leftovers!

(See Matthew 14: 13-21; Mark 6: 30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-14.)

A Moses Mission

Don’t forget how God talked to Moses in the Old Testament. Moses felt completely inadequate. How could he make a difference for God when he had so little to offer?

But God asked him, “What do you have in your hand?” Moses answered: “A staff” (Exodus 4:2).

And with that simple staff and the power of the Lord, Moses was able to perform mighty miracles, culminating in the release of the Israelites from bondage into the Promised Land!

The Widow’s Mite

And again, we see this same principle played out in the life of a widow who couldn’t offer much cash for the work of the Gospel. All she had were two small coins called mites.

A mite back in biblical times was less than a fraction of a penny—hardly worth throwing into an offering plate in our Western way of thinking. But she gave it anyway.

And do you know what happened? Her gift of those two small coins got the praise of Jesus Himself! (See Mark 12: 41-44; Luke 21:1-4.)

What’s the lesson for us today? It doesn’t matter if we don’t have a lot to offer. We don’t have to be incredibly bright or famous or wealthy to give and be used by God to make a difference in the world. The point is that we give the little we have in faith and watch God do the rest.

So, let’s make this year a mite-y year!

Blessing God’s Chosen People

You can be part of blessing God’s Chosen People. Just as that young boy did… Just as Moses did… Just as that widow did.

Here at Jewish Voice we have faithfully been serving the Jewish People with the Gospel of Yeshua (Jesus) for more than 40 years through media, teaching resources, medical outreaches to poor and displaced Jewish communities around the globe, and international Hear O’ Israel Festivals of Jewish Music and Dance.

We have witnessed a tremendous outpouring of the blessing of Jesus Christ through our efforts, but we can’t continue without you!

We humbly ask, “What is in your hand?”
